Adoption Process

Adopting a pet is a life-long commitment. Hand To Paw Cat Rescue adopts each pet into the right home and family. We take this task very seriously and thoroughly review each application. Expect this process to usually take 3-5 days, if your references reply to us promptly. Our volunteer staff members will do their best to process your application in a timely manner.

Discuss with your family about being ready to adopt

Fill out an application

Fill out your adoption application. Let your references, landlord (if applicable) and current vet know we will be contacting them. Please give your vet office permission to speak with us,

Review application

We will review your application. Next we will contact your references, landlord and vet office. A brief home visit is required prior to adoption. Once application has been approved one of our volunteers will contact you to set up a meet and greet.

Meet

Time to meet you perfect match. One of our volunteers will set up a time with you for a meet and greet. These are held at one of our volunteers' locations, this is for the safety of the cat and reduces stress on them.

Adoption contract

The last step is to sign your adoption agreement and make payment. Usually this can be done during the meet and greet.
